| AGM REPORT |
| The Five Roads Forum AGM took place on 13th January 2007, and was, as usual, very well attended. The annual election of officers took place. These are listed overleaf. There was some discussion of planning issues, concentrating on the Daniels development. The meeting was told that their application for a warehouse had won through on appeal. On the environment, improvements in removal of graffiti were noted, and residents and police working together had lessened the impact of anti-social behaviour around Broughton Court. Lots of people were concerned about rubbish build-up on roads. On transport, rat running through Denmark and Arden Roads remains a big problem. The possibility of extending the hours of the CPZ was discussed. Ideas for clearing up the playground area in Arden Road were put forward. The meeting finished with a well received presentation by Sue Wyatt and Gary Cooper from Ealing Council on the new Street Watchers scheme. |

and Parking Problems Construction on the new Daniel shop and flats is nearly complete, and the last crane has just been removed. Although neither residents of the new development nor shoppers at the new shop will be able to buy permits to park within the Zone H CPZ, the question remains as to whether all those cars will try to park in the Five Roads after 5:30 (currently the end of the CPZ hours) and on weekends. We have asked Council to re-consult everyone within the Five Roads about whether the CPZ hours should be changed, and you will be hearing more about that hopefully this summer. In the meantime, please notice cars parked without permits and do participate in the re-consult when you receive it so you can continue to find a place to park in your roads! STREET WATCHERS SCHEME TAKES OFF If you dont already know about it, Street Watchers are local volunteers who report problems with street services to Ealing Customer Services on a freephone number. They can report on a wide range of issues, including abandoned vehicles, missed refuse/recycling collections, graffiti and fly-posting, fly-tipping, road and highways faults, burned out streetlights, and blocked gullies. Once registered, Street Watchers are given a unique identification number to make their reports. This hot line should allow the Council to respond more quickly, and certainly there seems to have been much quicker removal of graffiti than before. Council officers report 90% now being cleared within 24 hours of being reported. The scheme is proving popular throughout the borough, and locally, with a Street Watcher now in place for each of the five roads. |
Car Crime: be vigilant Theres been a worrying spate of vehicle break-ins recently in the Five Roads area. You should all have received a leaflet about this from the police. Do take the time to read it and follow their advice: Dont leave valuables in your car. Dont leave anything on display. Do take your Sat Nav with you. Always lock the car when its unattended, and activate the alarm if you have one. Let the police know if you are the victim of car crime. You can contact our Safer Neighbourhoods Team on 020 8649 3573, or dial 999 in an emergency. Tidy Gardens Weekend! With summer fast approaching, now is the time to tidy your front garden and get those window boxes and pots planted! Whether youve got planting space in your front garden or room for a single pot, if everyone gets busy now we just may have enough beautiful things planted to have a small competition at the Street Party this year, with a nice grand prize. COMPETITION...COMPETITION Calling all Residents age 3 to 100. Enter our playground design competition - winning design(s) will be painted for real! As you may know, we have access to a neatly paved "play area" beside the car park on the east side of Arden Road. At the moment it's rather a dull space, but would be much more fun to visit if there were some games and graphics painted on it. We would like to use the existing concrete paving slabs as the basis for the design. The slabs are about 300mm x 300mm. |
