Sinclair House on The Avenue

Dear Residents,
Another major planning development threatens our doorsteps. This time it's a 12-storey block right the other side of the railway line, at Sinclair House (the nearly disused building squashed between the Drayton Pub and the railway). Acton Housing Association plan to build 12-storey block of flats with 88 affordable housing units in it, and another 7-storey block with retail space on the ground floor, office space and another 20 flats fronting The Avenue which would be sold.
The plans look like a classic 60's block and would directly overlook some of the houses in Hastings Road.
However the real issue is the cumulative development that is happening in West Ealing - 137 flats to be built on the Daniels site; a 9-storey flats development at Waitrose; and high-rise flats at Cavalier House; and the Gosai Cinema and Marks and Spencers sites. It is making Ealing into a high-rise, high density place to live.
Also there is the concern that a 12-storey block right the other side of the line could create a precedent for other tall blocks in the area. This might particularly affect the Majestic warehouse site that may one day be redeveloped. High-density development puts added pressure on to an already overcrowded junction between The Avenue and Argyle Road. And still more pressure on local doctors, schools, roads and amenities. The effect on house prices in the area would also be unfavourable.
I understand that you will all be busy but please take a minute or two out to drop the planning department of London Borough of Ealing an e-mail with your objections or views You can use the objections I've put in this email or add any of your own.
The email address is: planning@ealing.gov.uk
The reference number is: P/2004/4961.
If possible could you please copy the e-mail to fiveroadsforum@yahoo.co.uk.
Many Thanks,
Kuldeep Gharatya,
Arden Road.
