MINUTES TO AGM OF FIVE ROADS FORUM Held: 29th January 2001 @ the Conservative Offices at 8.00pm
HOME ZONE UP DATE Charmian welcomed everybody to the meeting and gave a report on the Home Zone to date. It had been approved at the January Ealing Area Committee and had been submitted to the Ealing Cabinet for ratification so that the monies could be released for this financial year. There was discussion has to whether this money could be accrued so that the street changes and Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) could be implemented at the same time. It was stressed that we would fall out of the pilot home zone scheme (which is funded by the DETR) if this were allowed to happen and that we would also lose the money as it had to be spent this financial year. The Council is currently drawing up detailed plans and dates for meetings to discuss individual street layouts will be notified .as soon as possible. TREASURERS REPORT Charmian gave the Treasurer's report on behalf of Mike Hallam. £1,788 is in the bank account at present - £1750 is a Millennium Lottery Award to cover the costs of making mosaics to be incorporated at the gateways to the Home Zone. The other £38 is profit from the Street Party last year. It was agreed to continue using our current bankers Lloyds TSB and that she would talk to Mike about who would audit our accounts. ELECTIONS James Buchanan conducted the election of the Chairs and Secretary. As nobody had stood for any of the positions Charmian, Kim and Hugh were duly re-elected. MOSAICS These are planned for each of the entrances to the Home Zone and are to be 50cm square. They will either be incorporated in the design of the gateway or will be positioned on a wall nearby. Rachel Felton of the Council advised that we place them above ground to avoid problems with statutory bodies at a later stage. The Fire Station has kindly agreed to let us hold the mosaic workshop there on Saturday 3rd and Saturday 10th March between 10am and 4pm. Everyone is very welcome to come and place some mosaic pieces. Designs for the mosaics were on display at the meeting for comments. For more details contact Georgina D'Angelo at 14 Denmark Road. CPZ A lot of debate took place over why the CPZ could not be implemented at the same time as the Home Zone as we would see a reduction in the number of parking spaces when it is implemented. Charmian and Hugh stressed that the committee had argued very strongly for it to be incorporated but had meet strong resistance at the Ealing Area Committee who felt it should happen as part of the West Ealing CPZ. Hugh in his role as Secretary represented the FRF at other groups like the Ealing Centre Forum and West Ealing Strategy Group and said that a lot of these members felt that a CPZ should be part of the scheme. He said that although he could not predict the timing, the Central Ealing/West Ealing was planned for this year. The FRF have been invited to attend a meeting on the 6th February to discuss CPZ in this area and that Catherine Racadio of 35 Broughton Road would be representing us. |
